MAPP and NPHPSP Trainings

NACCHO staff provides MAPP trainings for through a variety of venues. The following is a list of the trainings offered. See the MAPP Calendar of Events for a list of upcoming trainings.

APHA MAPP Workshop

Since 2006, MAPP workshops and trainings have been offered at APHA's Annual Meeting and Exposition. The MAPP workshop typically includes an overview of the MAPP process and an opportunity for attendees to ask questions of each other and NACCHO's MAPP staff. Potential, new, and experienced MAPP users are encouraged to attend this workshop. More information regarding the 2009 MAPP Workshop at APHA's Annual Meeting in Philadelphia, PA is forthcoming.

Annual NPHPSP Training

The NPHPSP partnership coordinates a national training for using the local, state, and governance instruments of the NPHPSP. These trainings teach participants to:

Structure the NPHPSP assessment process, implement the assessment, and use the results to coordinate a performance improvement effort;
Identify the benefits of using the NPHPSP instruments and become familiar with the features of the newly updated instruments (version 2);
Identify the planning, implementation, and performance improvement technical assistance resources available from national partner organizations;
Understand the relationship between the NPHPSP and related national initiatives including accreditation and MAPP; and
Assess readiness for implementing the NPHPSP and identify implementation challenges and potential solutions.

State-Wide Training

State health departments or State Associations of County and City Health Officials (SACCHOs) can request training for MAPP and/or the NPHPSP to be held in their state. NACCHO will provide the content, materials, and presenters at no charge to the hosting state. The hosting organization will need to arrange the meeting logistics. These trainings are tailored to the particular needs of the state. Past trainings have included:

Half-day trainings focusing on two of the phases or an overview of the process. Ideal for communities not ready for full training, but interested in further information.
One-day trainings, providing an overview of the process with some skills development.

Two-day, full MAPP trainings including step-by-step guidance for each phase.
