In March 2009, NACCHO plans to award funding to 10 local health departments (LHDs) to build or strengthen a coalition of community partners and develop a community action plan that addresses chronic disease prevention through policy, systems, and environmental change strategies. Each of the 10 LHDs will receive an initial one-time funding up to $15,000 toward travel to a Coaches Meeting and Action Institute. Upon successful completion of a community action plan, funded LHDs will receive an additional one-time funding of $25,000 toward implementation. All interested LHDs should submit their applications no later than COB Monday, Dec. 8, 2008. More » The NACCHO Exchange is a quarterly newsletter that promotes effective local public health practice.
