Condoms: Setting the Record Straight

The effectiveness of condoms at preventing the sexual transmission of HIV infection has been called into question by conservative groups and certain members of Congress. The result is that some government-sponsored educational materials are now emphasizing the lack of effectiveness of condoms in preventing the spread of HIV. To address the resulting public confusion on the topic, amfAR has produced a new issue brief that summarizes the evidence in support of condom use as an essential part of HIV prevention. The issue brief is one element of a newly revamped and expanded public policy section on the amfAR Web site. For the condom issue brief, click here. For more on public policy, click here
