The 2008 National Profile of Local Health Departments study, a comprehensive look at local health department infrastructure and practice, launched in July 2008. Data are used for local and regional comparisons, for policy-making and advocacy, for workforce education about local public health practice, and for research. In 2005, the Profile reported a response rate of 80% of all LHDs.
